This year I did. I subscribed to the NaNoWriMo, that’s the National Novel Wring Month.
November the writing month. I have to write a novel in 30 days, a novel that has to be of 50’000 words. To win, I have to write about 1666 words a day. I wrote usually a novel of about 90’000 words in 2 or 4 years, so this is a really huge challange.
The novelists of the 2013? We are 250’022.
My novel? It’s in Italian language. It’s here: http://nanowrimo.org/participants/lupen/novels .
A Mainstream story, where the Publishing World is one of the actor of the novel, just a part. Some characters that will interact each other to let discover the dark side of the people.
The title is “Meno di zero”, it’s a present to “Less Than Zero” by Bret Easton Ellis. A present to the idea itself, but reported in a very different context as the Rome city can offer. You will read what will happen when there is so much interests in play for people, what will happen to survive, to live when you’re annoyed and you want to prove your power to the people. People meet people, people use people weakness in the politics, for publishing and in the very normal and human world.
The story will show all that by the story characters, facts. A not simple story that could be powerfully written by a Stephen King, but I will try. Is it a challange? Isn’t it always a challange to write a story?
Show, don’t tell it’s the magic word.
Show, don’t tell.
